Honoring a Community Legend: Joe Keohane Field Dedication
The Burlington Board of Selectmen held a special meeting to honor Coach Joe Keohane, recognizing his significant contributions to local youth sports by dedicating the upper Simond's Park Field in his name. Board Chair Walter Zenkin read a proclamation celebrating Keohane's 43 years of dedication to Burlington baseball and his extensive involvement in various youth sports, including girls' softball and youth hockey. Keohane has coached countless players, instilling in them the values of sportsmanship and fair play. His impressive achievements include multiple championship titles and accolades, such as the prestigious Fred Ebbett Award. Even at 82, he continues to mentor young athletes and support them from the sidelines. The dedication ceremony took place on April 25, 2011, marking a fitting tribute to a beloved figure in Burlington's athletic community.
